Code of Ethics for The Annual International Conference on Islamic Education (AICONIE)
The Annual International Conference on Islamic Education (AICONIE) is a scholarly publication featuring research in Islamic education that has not been previously published. This code of ethics serves as a guideline for all parties involved in the journal's publication process, including managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. It is based on LIPI Regulation No. 5 of 2014 on Scientific Publication Ethics, which upholds three ethical values in publication:

Neutrality – Free from conflicts of interest in managing publications.

Fairness – Ensuring proper authorship credit is given to those who deserve it.

Honesty – Free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief

Determine the journal's name, scope, publication frequency, and accreditation requirements if needed.

Establish the editorial team.

Define relationships between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other stakeholders.

Respect the confidentiality of contributors, authors, editors, and reviewers.

Uphold copyright and intellectual property rights.

Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.

Develop ethical guidelines for editors and reviewers.

Ensure regular journal publication.

Secure funding sources for journal sustainability.

Establish networks for collaboration and marketing.
-
Improve the journal’s quality.
-
Manage legal permissions and other regulatory aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Provide comments on manuscripts to help readers understand the author's message, through annotations and discussion features on the journal’s website.

Ensure manuscripts adhere to proper language standards and journal formatting.

Strive for continuous improvement in publication quality.

Promote objectivity and freedom of expression.

Issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.

Ensure manuscripts do not contain sensitive content related to race, religion, or other potentially harmful topics. If a manuscript is controversial, it should be reviewed by senior editorial management.

Handle complaints from all parties involved in journal publication.

Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics.

Avoid personal biases or influence from authors or third parties that may result in biased decisions.

Encourage authors to revise and improve their manuscripts to meet publication standards.

Format manuscripts to align with the journal’s template.

Assist the Editor-in-Chief in finalizing manuscripts before publication, particularly in terms of language, format, and layout.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the manuscript’s scientific value and contribution to the field.

Assess whether the manuscript is clear, comprehensive, and relevant, and if it aligns with the journal's scope.

Refrain from providing personal criticism or comments.

Maintain manuscript confidentiality by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing its content to others.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works of the authors.

Confirm that the submitted manuscript is not under review by another publisher or submitted to multiple publishers simultaneously.

Take responsibility for all journal publication processes until the manuscript is published.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Website Administrator
The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the journal's website. Specific tasks include:

Setting up the journal’s website.
-
Configuring system options and managing user accounts.
-
Registering editors, reviewers, and authors.
-
Managing journal features.
-
Monitoring statistical reports.
-
Uploading/publishing accepted manuscripts.
